FEDORA is proud to spotlight the Teatro alla Scala, one of our valued Platform Members, as it takes center stage in La Force du Destin — an exceptional new documentary directed by Anissa Bonnefont.

Produced by Federation Studios and MDE Films, in coproduction with France Télévisions and RAI Documentari, this long-feature documentary offers an unprecedented look behind the scenes of one of the most legendary opera houses in the world.

Through the lens of Anissa Bonnefont, viewers are immersed in the months of creative energy, precision, and emotion leading up to La Scala’s iconic season opening night — the “Prima”. Each year on December 7th, Milan vibrates to the rhythm of this national cultural event, and in 2024 it was Giuseppe Verdi’s La Forza del Destino that inaugurated the season.

Guided by Maestro Riccardo Chailly and directed by Leo Muscato, with designs by Silvia Aymonino and Federica Parolini, the production reimagines Verdi’s masterpiece as a powerful reflection on fate, war, and humanity. With rare access to rehearsals, workshops, and production meetings, the film reveals the passion and craftsmanship of the hundreds of artists and artisans who bring this monumental production to life.

La Force du Destin captures the collective heartbeat of La Scala — a true hive of artistry and dedication, embodying the collaborative spirit that FEDORA celebrates through its European Platform, supporting innovation and excellence in opera and dance across the continent.

The film premiered at La Scala, Milan, on 20 October, 2025, before its theatrical release in France on 2 November, 2025, distributed by Originals Factory. Find the screenings near you!
